ABOUT

JEANNINE JOURDAN

Artistic Beginnings

I am the daughter of and granddaughter of painters and creative people. Our home had frescoes painted by my mother and my grandfather was an animator with Walt Disney.

We were surrounded by paintings, sculptures, books and given paints, pastels, paper and clay to play in and create.

Inspirations

I studied ballet and modern dance, quietly circling the visual arts in my journals

I degreed in Art Therapy, worked with Children in Hospice and California Arts in Corrections

All the while continuing to sketch and draw

Art and spirit journey

I traveled to India and Europe and began capturing my views by camera…

…and started looking for and studying at ateliers where I could develop in drawing and painting…

…all the while aligning myself with the long lineage of artists and spiritual seekers who’ve dared to try

My approach

While humbled by the masters who have gone before and surround me I continue to be drawn to the principles of truth and beauty

Studio

I work in a purpose built studio with high north facing light on Dartmoor.

Lineage

The following is a list of those I consider to be my teachers still. Mixing my own paints where possible, stretching canvas onto cradles and mixing my own medium all contribute to my experience of connecting with this lineage. Visiting their work at every opportunity is also an important way I work to continue learning from them.
